<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitrous oxide decomposing catalyst capable of efficiently removing a nitrous oxide and a method for removing a nitrous oxide using the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: A nitrous oxide decomposing catalyst is characterized in that a carrier is composed mainly of a composite oxide that contains at least ZnO and porous Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>having an average pore size between 8 and 16 nm and having the relative half width of 0.5 or less, and in that carries at least 1, 2, or more types of catalyst metal selected from Rh, Ir, Pd, Pt, and Ru. Gases containing at least N<SB>2</SB>O are caused to come into contact with the nitrous oxide decomposing catalyst within a temperature range between 300 and 500°C, thereby decomposing and removing N<SB>2</SB>O contained in the gases. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
