摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transverse electric field type transreflective liquid crystal device capable of obtaining display of high quality on both of reflective display and transparent display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device 100 is a transreflective liquid crystal device provided with a TFT array substrate (first substrate) 10 and a counter substrate (second substrate) 20 which are oppositely arranged through a liquid crystal layer 50 and performing reflective display and transparent display in one dot area. A common electrode 19 (first electrode) and a pixel electrode 9 (second electrode) which apply an electric field of an approximate substrate face direction to the liquid crystal layer 50 in the dot area are arranged on the liquid crystal layer side of the TFT array substrate 10, and a transreflective type reflecting/polarizing layer 29 having transmission axis and a reflection axis intersecting with the transmission axis and capable of reflecting a polarized component parallel with the reflection axis out of incident light and transmitting a polarized component parallel with the transmission axis is formed on the counter substrate 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
