<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cogeneration system having improved energy efficiency by controlling equipment as part of the system corresponding to actual demands, and to provide its control method. <P>SOLUTION: The cogeneration system 100 comprises two cogeneration units C1, C2, four housings H1, H2, H3, H4, a controller 30, and an optimizing server 40. The controller 30 acquires the energy demand of each housing and controls the output of each cogeneration unit corresponding to the energy demand. The energy demand is input at one-minute intervals, e.g., and the output of each cogeneration unit is controlled each time. The optimizing server 40 acquires history data for the energy demand and creates an optimum control map while applying a genetic algorithm in accordance with the history data.
