PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of achieving a processing of surely exposing a ground pattern by discriminating whether the ground pattern originally attached to an original is copied as it is or a device side newly attaches the ground pattern in the case of copying the original attached with the ground pattern and to provide an image processing method and a program for the image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image processing method is characterized in that whether or not a device ground pattern is attached to an original by a two-dimensional bar code or the like embedded to the original is discriminated, whether or not the ground pattern attached to the original can surely be printed when the device ground pattern is attached is discriminated, a function of newly attaching the device ground pattern to the original is provided when the possibility of printing is low, density conversion processing is applied to an image of the original so as to surely expose the ground pattern thereby producing a sure copy printed matter.
