PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer unit with basic structure readily adaptable for different speeds by devising a structure of an exit port. SOLUTION: The exit port is provided in a developer housing for retaining a quantity of developer material as a passage of the developer material out of the developer housing and an insert 100 is further provided so as to be associated with the exit port. A spillover barrier height H of the insert 100, exit port formation surface angle A or both of them are set so that the developer material may pass through the exit port. The exit port is provided, for example, adjacent to a rotatable member in the developer housing and near its center.
