摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film which has a retarded phase axis in the crosswise direction of the film, causing a uniform retardation, with regard to the optical film to be used for various kinds of display devices such as a liquid crystal display device (LCD), especially a protecting film for a deflecting plate to be used for these display devices and an optical film useful for a phase difference film, a method for manufacturing the optical film and the defleting plate using the optical film. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing a continuous optical film comprises to extrude from a die a cellulose ester resin or a polymer resin containing an alicyclic structure by a melt casting film forming process, to cool/harden the extruded resin into an unstretched film, to continuously stretch the unstretched film in the crosswise direction while holding its both ends, and to take up the stretched film. A casting die comprises thickness adjusting means (slit interval adjusting means) arranged in the film crosswise direction and the arrangement interval of the thickness adjusting means in the crosswise direction of the film, is 10 to 60 mm.
