PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base structure of a metal pipe column eliminating inconvenience caused by projection of an anchor bolt end and a locknut part from a base plate. SOLUTION: The base structure of the metal pipe column is constituted by inserting the anchor bolt 10 embedded in a foundation 5 in a state of projecting one end from the upper face of the foundation, into an anchor bolt insertion hole 13 having an opening 17 formed by counterboring the base plate 10 mounted to the lower part of the metal pipe column, and fastening the anchor bolt with a locknut 7 with a polygonal outer surface. A looseness preventing hardware 11 with its inner surface 4 shaped to fit to at least one part of the outer side face of the locknut 7 and with its outer peripheral surface having a projection 9, is placed in such a manner that the projection is fitted into a recess 12 provided at the side face part of a counterbore hole and that the inner surface is fitted to the outer side face of the locknut.
