PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a widening excavator capable of easily and positively enlarging diameters of widening excavation blades and assisting the excavation biting force of the tip parts of the widening excavation blades even when the vicinity of the widening excavation blades is integrated into cylindrical shape due to clayey soil in an excavated layer. SOLUTION: The widening excavator with the widening excavation blades 4 disposed through rocking shafts 3 at an excavating rod 2 with an excavating blade 1 disposed, opens the widening excavation blades 4 for diameter enlargement by changing the rotating direction of the excavating rod 2 from a normal rotating direction of the excavating blade 1 into a reverse rotating direction, wherein springs 5 are provided for energizing the widening excavation blades 4 in an opening direction, and an interlocking member 6 for interlocking the respective widening excavation blades 4 is laid across the widening excavation blades 4 provided in a lateral pair.
