PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument capable of improving illumination efficiency without deteriorating impressiveness of design, in the measuring instrument having a light source disposed from the part immediately below the design to the part corresponding to the part immediately below the center of a dial, in the backside of the dial. SOLUTION: The design to be illuminated is formed near the periphery of the dial. A plurality of light sources 22 for illuminating the design are arranged near the part immediately below the central part of the dial on the backside of the dial. A plurality of reflective walls 21a paired with the plurality of light sources 22, respectively, are standingly provided on the backside of the dial. The light emitted from the plurality of light sources 22 toward the center of the dial is reflected so as to be directed toward the backside of the dial where the design is formed. Thus, the light otherwise unnecessary provided to the center of the dial can be provided to the design formed in the vicinity of the peripheral part of the dial. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
