927,608. Guiding webs transversely. MOUNT HOPE MACHINERY S.A. Sept. 5, 1960 [Sept. 9, 1959], No. 30560/60. Class 100 (1). Web guiding mechanism comprises a multiposition valve 74, Fig. 4, the setting of which is controlled by a diaphragm 110 supplied with air under pressure through an orifice 108. Should the web 15, Fig. 1, deviate laterally, e.g. to the left, the diaphragm 110 expands to raise a control rod 741, Fig. 4, such that air under pressure is supplied from an inlet 114 to port 116 and thereby forces piston 260 downwardly. The piston 260 actuates web guiding means, not shown. Similarly deviation to the right causes upward movement of the piston. A finger 88, Fig. 1, engages an edge of the web 15, such that lateral deviations of the web rock the finger about a pivot 190, thereby actuating a valve 90 engaging an outlet 96 connected to a conduit 106 supplying air under pressure to the diaphragm 110.
|
