Unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is one of the most common clinical problems in human reproduction. Oxidative stress have pronounced effects on placental function. The inability to mount an effective antioxidant defense results in early pregnancy loss. In vitro studies showed that oxidative stress was suppressed by antioxidant effect of Nocetylcyoteine (NAC). Also it was shown to have antiapoptotic and anti inflammatory actions. NAC is a novel safe treatment for patients with unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss in human.
