PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing photography by accurate focusing by keeping a time interval of consecutive photography constant when performing focusing in the consecutive photography. SOLUTION: When performing the continuous photographing, the accurate focusing is performed for the first picture by concurrently performing focusing by an external passive system based on the result of detection by a range-finding sensor 25 and focusing by a contrast system, and the accurate focusing is performed for the second and succeeding pictures by performing focusing only by the external passive system.
