PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for examining attached organisms, with which the inflow state of attached organisms in an inlet channel and a pipe conduit of a plant using seawater is simply examined. SOLUTION: The apparatus (8) for examining attached organisms is an apparatus for examining the living state of Balanus amphitrite (71) attaching itself to a rock surface, a wall surface, etc., in seawater. The apparatus for examining attached organisms is equipped with a transparent glass plate (25) having a contact surface with seawater in which Balanus amphitrite (71) exists, a CCD camera (15) for photographing the contact surface from its opposite side and forming its image and an attached organism counting means (16) for counting and outputting Balanus amphitrite (71) on an image.
