PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information management system usable in a source code management system. SOLUTION: The information management system is distributed in an enterprise as a whole and operates so as to be capable of effecting secure communication with a remote site, connected to a central site via an unsecure network. A secure channel is produced via an unsecure channel, to transmit a coded information with respect to one or a plurality of artifacts and an identification information. By employing this information, access is effected from a remote site to the artifact to decode the artifact. The artifact retains a discriminable form through the coding, whereby cacheing can be effected through the information management system. Due to the ability of cacheing of the artifact, a band width required for the operation of the information management system from a remote site is markedly reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
