PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor capable of remarkably reducing vibration and also achieving a cost reduction, and to provide a linear compressor using the same. SOLUTION: The linear motor 100A has a stator 110 which is constituted of a yoke 111, coils 121, 122 wound around teeth 111a, 111b which project from the yoke 111, and permanent magnets 141a, 141b, 141c, 142a, 142b, 142c which are arranged at the tip end of the teeth 111a, 111b. Furthermore, the linear motor has a mobile body 130 arranged in a space 120 held between the teeth 111a, 111b. The mobile body 130 has a first moving segment 131 and a second moving segment 132 each reciprocating in the opposite direction with each other in the axial O direction of the stator 110.
