[Class 18.] A b o x f o r powders or pastes, e.g. rice powder, rouge, powdered soap, comprises a sieve 13 held in a casing which is joined to the base of the box by flexible material 7 so that the sieve can move both laterally and vertically. The sieve is locked in a casing 11 by a ring 15, and the casing 11 fits in a casing 6 supported by a conical spring 10, a further casing 4 with an inturned flange enclosing the whole assembly. The upper part of the material 7 is fixed to the casing 6 by a ring 8, and the lower part is fixed to the base of the box by adhesive, or gripped between the base and a locking ring or the casing 4. A smaller inturned flange is provided on the casing 4 when the box is to be filled by withdrawing the casing 11. The base of the box is covered with hide or fabric. Powder &c. passes through the sieve to a puff 17 by pressing the latter down on to the sieve and moving it laterally. |
