PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera and a photographing system which can sufficiently function as a monitor camera simply. SOLUTION: When a user depresses a monitor mode photographing start switch of a cradle 60, a signal indicating a setting instruction for performing a monitor mode photographing is sent from the cradle 60 to a digital camera 10. The cradle 60 comprises an infrared sensor 66 for detecting an invader, etc. The cradle 60 makes a photographing instruction of an object to the digital camera 10 according to the output signal of the infrared sensor 66. On this occasion, a gain is raised in the digital camera 10, and a photographing image signal is overlapped with a power source line in the cradle 60, and is sent from the cradle 60 to a personal computer 80.
