PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and an image processing program capable of easily revising and adding metadata and flexibly coping with revision and addition of a processing program of image data. SOLUTION: When an image read section 10 generates image data, a processing procedure generating section 18 generates an instruction 30 including processing procedures of image data and stores it to an image data storage section 20. Further, a control information generating section 14 generates metadata and stores the metadata to a control information storage section 16. In this case, the processing procedure generating section 18 writes an address of the metadata to the instruction. When the image data and the instruction are stored to the image data storage section 20, a processing procedure interpretation section 22 extracts the instruction and starts a processing program of the image data included in the processing procedures. Further, the processing procedure interpretation section 22 acquires the metadata given to the processing program from the control information storage section 16 and gives the acquired metadata to the processing program together with image data 28, and the processing program executes the processing of the image data.
