PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regulate generation of skew and paper jamming at the time of conveying bills. SOLUTION: A bill conveying device is provided with a first bill conveying passage 8 communicating with a bill insertion port 10 and a second bill conveying passage provided in a direction orthogonal to the first bill conveying passage 8. The first bill conveying passage 8 is provided with a first bill conveying means 11 comprising a driving belt 24 and three pinch rollers 25, 26, 27 contacting opposite to the driving belt. Holders 43A, 43B for rotatably supporting the two pinch rollers 26, 27 are supported to be able to freely oscillate around an axis 45. Driving one electromagnetic solenoid makes the holders 43A, 43B oscillate simultaneously via a transmitting member, which separates the two pinch rollers 26, 27 from the driving belt 24.
