A paper punch apparatus (10) comprises a bit reception plate (20) and a hole punch bit (30) disposed opposite an eccentric position of the bit reception plate (20). The apparatus (10) includes an automatic rotation mechanism (70) between the bit reception plate (20) and a main body of the punch apparatus (10), wherein the automatic rotation mechanism (70) rotates the bit reception plate (20) by a predetermined angle. The automatic rotation mechanism (70) includes a gear (23a), an engagement/disengagement member (71) that performs resilient engagement/disengagement with respect to the gear (23a) to rotate the bit reception plate (20) in one direction via the gear (23a); and a detent member (72) to prevent backward rotation of the bit reception plate (20).
