A lamp bulb is provided with an Edison-screw cap by forming the neck 2 with a screw-thread 5, to receive a similarly threaded metal envelope 10, one of the current supply wires 8 connected to 10 being extended in the form of a safety fuse through the space between the end 3 of the lamp neck and the insulating base 13 of the cap, an insulating ring 15 filling up the said space and clamping the wire 8 on to the end 3 of the lamp neck. Due to the large support area provided by the lamp neck the maximum thickness of the metal envelope 10 may be 0.17 mm. (0.0067 inch). The ring 15 may consist of cement, silicon resin or a sponge plastic material.</p> |
