The method involves allowing a desired value for the temperature of a vehicle interior (12). A burner area (16) is controlled for continuing of combustion operation, if the temperature of the interior lies over the desired value. A fresh air/circulating air adjusting mechanism is controlled for increasing the fresh air portion of the hot-air that is conveyed by an air conveying blower, if the temperature lies over the desired value.
