A dust collecting barrel structure of an upright type vacuum cleaner is provided to maintain the suction force despite increasing the vacuuming force according to operation of the vacuum cleaner by forming an intake port and an exhaust port on a cover installed at the uppermost portion of the dust collecting barrel, and to reduce the production cost and improve assembling efficiency by making a guide member having appearance for leading intake/exhaust air. A dust collecting barrel structure(8) of an upright type vacuum cleaner comprises a circular cover formed with an intake port(21) and an exhaust port(22); a guide member mounted at the lower side of the cover to lead an air flow path; a filter mounted on the lower surface of the guide member; and a cylindrical main body mounted on the lower surface rim of the cover to embed the guide member and the filter inside.
