A device and a method for managing health are provided to check a body state of a user by determining a part of a body for sensing a biological signal of the user, sensing a potential signal of the body part, and analyzing a sensing result. A sensing position determiner(110) determines the body part for the received biological signal. A biological potential sensor(120) senses the potential signal of the body part corresponding to a determination result. An analyzer(150) analyzes the sensing result. A health index calculator(160) calculates a desired health index by using an analysis result. The health index represents the body state of the user. The sensing position determiner includes a checker(114) checking whether the result sensing acceleration of the body part is a preset shape or not, and a body part determiner(116) determining the body part by responding to a checking result.
