<p>Provided are a sulfonated ion conductive crosslinked copolymer which is inhibited in the swelling due to the contact with liquid, is excellent in dimension stability, is remarkably reduced in methanol crossover, a polymer electrolyte membrane comprising the copolymer, and a membrane electrode assembly and a fuel cell containing the membrane. The sulfonated ion conductive crosslinked copolymer comprises an aromatic diol as a first monomer; a second monomer having two halogen atoms or nitro groups capable of reacting with the hydroxyl group of the first monomer; a third monomer such that it is a first or second monomer whose the hydrogen atom of the benzene ring is substituted with a -SO3Y group; and a fourth monomer containing at least three hydroxyl groups, nitro groups or halogen atoms, wherein Y is H, Li, Na, K or a trialkylammonium group (HNR3); and R is a C1-C5 alkyl group.</p> |
