PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a high reliable square battery having a group of spiral electrodes with square cross sectional shape with high productivity and the electrode group thereof with good productivity and high precision. SOLUTION: The electrode group 17 in which a band shape positive electrode plate 20 and a negative electrode plate 21 are spirally wound involving a band shape separator 22 therebetween, and a electrolyte solution of the square type battery is contained in an angle tubular battery case 14 having a rectangular cross sectional shape. The electrode group 17 has a circular part 18 that is wound almost cylindrically and located at the center, and a angle tubular part 19 that is wound angularly and provided to circumscribe the cylindrical part 18. The electrode group 17 forms the cylindrical part 18 in a winding step using a winding core 27 having circular cross sectional shape. The angle tubular part 19 is formed in the winding step using four chuck members for winding a core having almost right angled triangle. |
