A method and apparatus for a clothes dryer that uses a solid state switching system to disconnect components of the dryer, such as the motor, when the dryer is not in use. The solid state switching system also modulates the output of a heater. Modulati on of the heater is controlled by a timer associated with modulation logic, and/or oth er timers and thermostats.
