An auxiliary wheel (6) is placed under and behind the weighted section (14) of a low-lift truck (1). When the truck is free of palleted load or cargo, the auxiliary wheel contacts the ground surface while the rear wheels (28) are raised from the ground. When the truck is put with load, the auxiliary wheel is spaced apart from the ground surface, while the rear wheels contact the same surface.
