Rapid testing of intermittently operated devices

Apparatus and method for testing intermittently operated devices such as mobile phones or dial-up internet access. An interaction between the intermittently operated device and a test performance component is initiated, and a release interval value and a measurement interval value are obtained. The test performance component then performs a number of tests; each test occurring over one measurement interval value, where the tests are terminated after a predetermined condition is reached. The predetermined condition is preferably determined using the release interval value and the measurement interval value. Testing overhead is reduced because the device only needs to be initialised and released once rather needing to be initialised and released separately for each individual test.
