<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stiffen paper to be discharged in spite of a constitution in which two pieces of paper can be moved in a discharge direction and a return path direction being superposed between a driving roller and a driven roller when the driven roller is separated from the driving roller. <P>SOLUTION: In this image forming apparatus, the paper carried toward a paper discharging part is switched back, the driving roller 72 and the driven roller 73 are separated from each other for returning the paper to an image forming part to form an image on the other side of the paper, and the two pieces of paper can be moved in the discharge direction and the return path direction being superposed between the driving roller 72 and the driven roller 73. The image forming apparatus is provided with a stiffening roller 74 having a paper contacting part geting into a center side of a periphery of the driving roller 72 between the driving rollers from a driven roller side whether the driven roller 73 is in contact with or separated.
