A bracing cable (13) penetrates through openings at the roots (5) of all guide vanes (1) in a circular arc vane segment (19). The ends of the cables connect the roots (29,31) of the guide vanes (23,27) at both ends (21,25) of the segment. The vane roots are embedded into grooves (11) in the fluid machine. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a fluid machine; and (2) a method of assembling guide vanes in a fluid machine part.
