AUTOMOTIVE SEAT WITH SIDE AIR BAG DEVICE

An automotive seat includes a seat back having a seat back frame and a trim cover and a side air bag device including an inflator and an air bag adapted to be inflated and to expand out of the seat when applied with an output pressure from the inflator, the side air bag device being disposed at one side of the seat back frame. The trim cover includes a front portion and a lateral portion that cover the side of the se at back frame where the side air bag device is located, the front portion having an edge a nd the lateral portion having an edge, the front and lateral portions being joined at their respective edges along a seam line therebetween such that the front portion and the lateral portion are separable when the air bag is inflated and expanded. The trim cover further includes a first stay cloth attached to an inner surface of the front portion, the first stay cloth having a first edge adjacent the seam line and a second edge operatively connected to the seat back frame, the first edge being opposite from and substantially shorter than the second edge, and a second stay cloth attached to an inner surface of the lateral portion, the second stay cloth having a first edge adjacent the seam line and a second edge operative ly connected to the seat back frame, the first edge of the second stay cloth being opposi te from and substantially shorter than the second edge of the second stay cloth, the fir st and second stay cloths being formed of a material that is substantially less deformable than the front and lateral portions of the trim cover when subjected to expansion pressure caus ed by inflation of the air bag.
