The simultaneous production of drinking water and commercial sea salt comprises the passage of salt water through a series of vertical evaporators each providing steam to heat the succeeding evaporator. The steam from the first evaporator is at 4 bar pressure, generated in a conventional boiler. Once the final evaporator salt concentration reaches a pre-set maximum, the brine is passed to three crystallizers yielding three groups of crystallized salts.
