Disclosed is a method for selectively reducing a nitro moiety ortho to an amino substituent on a phenyl or pyridyl ring of a compound in the presence of a nitro moiety para to an amino substituent on the phenyl or pyridyl ring of the compound, comprising treating a solution of the compound in a solvent with a palladium catalyst in the presence of hydrogen.
