An electrical heating body (10) for heating a liquid is disclosed which includes a heat distribution plate (3) which has a high heat conductivity, at least one heat conductor (2) which includes a thick film conductor track applied to one side of the heat distribution plate (3) leaving a central portion of the heat distribution plate (1) uncovered, an electrical connection element (4, 5) coupled to the conductor track, and a temperature dependant resistor (9) formed on the central portion. The temperature dependant resistor (9) is electrically isolated, and substantially thermally decoupled from the heat conductor (2). The resistor (9) includes a second thick film conductor track (8) adjacent to the heat conductor (2) which is formed from a material that has a sufficient temperature coefficient to measure the temperature of the liquid.
