EEG seizure analysis

To detect seizures from an electroencephalogram (EEG) signal, numerical data characterising the wave-form shape of the EEG signal at a plurality of times within the signal is obtained (by measurement of peaks and troughs of the signal against the average value, and digitisation) and calculations are performed on the data to produce related numerical data that indicates individual oscillations identified within the EEG signal. The related numerical data of at least two individual consecutive oscillations of the identified oscillations are compared to a predetermined criterion. That a seizure event has taken place at a particular time or times can be determined if the related numerical data of individual consecutive oscillations identified at that particular time or times in the EEG signal are within the predetermined criteria.
