<p>The machine, in which a workpiece is moved relative to a tool, e.g. diamond-tipped, that shapes its facets, has the relative displacements of the workpiece and tool (2) monitored automatically by an electronic system (6). Each workpiece is mounted on a carrier (4), with the electronic system able to determine the positions of different workpieces independently of one another and of the carrier as they are moved in plane along at least three axes perpendicular to the movement of the tool as it is driven by a motor (21). The movement of the workpiece carrier is provided by a turret (9) with stages (92, 94, 96) rotating about different axes.</p> |
