A cord (30) supporting two electrodes (50a, 50b) for generating an electromagnetic field about a user (10) to repel selected aquatic creatures, is disclosed, where a first end of the cord (30) is connected to an ankle cuff (20), which is worn by the user (10). When in use, the electrodes (50a, 50b) are electrically connected to an electromagnetic field generator (40), and the electrodes (50a, 50b) are exposed to make contact with surrounding water, even if the user (10) is not in contact with the water. The electrodes (50a, 50b) are spaced along the cord (30), where the electrodes (50a, 50b) are disposed substantially parallel to the cord (30).
