The device has a connection unit receiving a video signal, and another connection unit receiving an audio signal from a monophonic type audio amplifier. Two pairs of connectors are connected to a reference cord and a cord to be tested, where each connector pair transmits the received video signal and mass of received audio signal via a line of connection of each cord, and the received audio signal via another line of connection of each cord. A switching unit inverts output signals of the cords with video section units which transmit the output signals towards a television set. An independent claim is also included for an audio/video cord test method.
