A saddle tree 100 comprises a tree body having a pommel end and a cantle end. The tree body is formed from a flexible material and a generally Y-shaped strengthening bar 123. Forks of the Y-shaped bar 123 are directed towards the cantle end. The bar 123 may be made from carbon fibre, the pommel end of the saddle tree may be angularly adjustable and a head plate 121 may be located near the pommel end.
