Obstacle detecting and force limiting device has emitting and receiving safety cells that are positioned and fixed close to a guiding device (8), to emit a beam (F) that is directed along a vertical axis outside a guide (15), so that the beam is interrupted upon the deformation of a flexible curtain or apron (5). The emitting and receiving safety cells are respectively fixed in the upper and lower part of a goods-handling door.
