Use of gamma vinyl-GABA (GVG) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or an enantiomer or racemic mixture thereof, in the manufacture of a medicament for treating a human suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) or OCD-related disorders, and to reduce or eliminate behaviors associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and OCD-related disorders is disclosed. These compounds are suitable for treating OCD-related disorder selected from the group consisting of general anxiety disorder, pathological or compulsive gambling disorder, compulsive eating, body dysmorphic disorder, hypochondriasis, pathologic grooming conditions, kleptomania, pyromania, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and impulse control disorders.
