The apparatus has a stylus (7) movably mounted with respect to a case (3) for the inscription of a characteristic plot characteristic of a physical quantity e.g. pressure, measured by a probe (2), on a writing medium. A processor connected to the probe is programmed to regulate the angular position of an output shaft (15) of a stepper motor (14) based on variations of the quantity and to angularly adjust the shaft with the reception of a retiming signal. A sensor detects the passage of a rotary identification mark (28) in a preset angular position to deliver the signal to the processor.
