<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device for a vehicle capable of obtaining appropriate energy absorption performance according to an occupant's physique. <P>SOLUTION: The airbag 4 is divided into an upper air chamber A and a lower chamber B by a partition wall 11. Inflators 5, 6 are provided in the upper air chamber A and the lower air chamber B respectively, and a physique sensor S detecting the physique of the occupant 14 is also provided. When the physique sensor S detects the physique of larger than a predetermined value, the head part of the occupant 14 at the higher position corresponds to the vertical position, and the appropriate energy absorption performance can be obtained since both the upper air chamber A and the lower air chamber B are inflated. When the small physique is detected, the head part 15a of the occupant 15 at the lower position corresponds to the vertical position, and the appropriate energy absorption performance can be also obtained in this case since the only lower air chamber B is inflated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
