PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matching method, a matching device, and a program, by which the similarity between two objects can be determined at high speed with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The matching method for determining the similarity between two objects by comparing a group of characteristic points of objects projected to an N-dimensional space, comprises mapping step (Step 3) of imaging the group in a one-dimensional space; pairing step (Step 6) generating a group of pairs of characteristic points of the first object and the second object located most adjacently; partial group generation step (Step 7) of extracting, from the group of pairs of characteristic points, a part of the pairs in ascending order of the distances of the pairs to form a partial group of pairs of characteristic points; average value calculation step (Step 8) of calculating an average value of the distances of pairs belonging to the partial group of pairs of characteristic points; and determination step (Step 10) of determining, based on the average value of distance, the similarity between the first object and the second object.
