PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogenation method of a diene-based polymer latex that efficiently attains selective hydrogenation thereof at a high hydrogenation degree causing no gel trouble without using an organic solvent. SOLUTION: The hydrogenation method of a carbon-carbon double bond in the latex comprises a step for hydrogenating a polymer comprised of a conjugated diene and other copolymerizable monomers in a latex form in the presence of a catalyst of the formula: RhQLx in the absence of an organic solvent at a temperature of from about 35°C to about 180°C at hydrogen pressure of from about 0.1 to about 20 MPa. In the formula, Q is hydrogen or an anion; L is a ligand compound of the formula: R<SB>m</SB>B (wherein R is a 1-8C alkyl group or the like; B is phosphorus, arsenic, sulfur or a sulfoxide group; and m is 2 or 3); and x is 2, 3 or 4.
