PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reflect an influence of unevenness of color in a sub-scanning direction, in the correction of exposure in a main scanning direction. SOLUTION: The result of printing is read by printing a test chart at exposure based on each exposure correction pattern in the main scanning direction, and the worst value of a main-scanning-direction difference between colors in the test chart is determined in terms of each color in the test chart from the read result (S10-S14). Thus, the distribution of the worst value of the difference between the colors when the exposure correction pattern is varied can be obtained in terms of each color (S16). After the test chart for the sub-scanning direction is printed (S18), the result of the printing is read (S20), and the worst value of a sub-scanning-direction difference between the colors in the test chart is determined in terms of each color in the test chart from the read result (S22). Subsequently, the distribution of the worst value of the main-scanning-direction difference between the respective colors is corrected by the worst value of the sub-scanning-direction difference between the colors, which is determined in S22 (S24). An exposure correction amount pattern, in which the worst value of the difference between the respective colors is traded off, is identified from the corrected distribution of the worst value of the difference between the respective colors.
