PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for casting a cast product by which molten metal running performance and yield rate are improved by charging the molten metal into every corner in a cavity. SOLUTION: A metallic mold 6 is formed with an upper-side mold plate 6a and a lower-side mold plate 6b, and the cavity 13 is formed in the metallic mold 6. In the lower-side mold plate 6b, a mold plate movable part 6c by which a part of the cavity surface can be moved in the direction changing the cavity volume to the rest cavity surface, is arranged. When the molten metal 17 is cast, the mold plate movable part 6c is moved in the direction for increasing the cavity volume, and after pouring the molten metal, the volume in the cavity is returned back to the volume corresponding to the size of the cast product to the volume in the cavity by moving to the direction for reducing the volume of the cavity 13 before solidifying. In this way, the excessive molten metal once poured into the cavity 13, is discharged, and the molten metal 17 in the cavity at this time is pressurized and spread into every corners in the cavity 13.
