<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of inexpensively and easily preventing the occurrence of a toner band or a carrier band regardless of the individual difference of an image forming apparatus and to provide a method for changing an image forming condition. <P>SOLUTION: At the start of application or the finish of application of the electrifying bias or the developing bias in the image forming apparatus, starting (finishing) timing for application of developing bias or electrifying bias is controlled so that a developer band (the toner band or the carrier band) is formed on a surface of a photoreceptor 1. The developing band formed on the surface of the photoreceptor 1 due to this control is transferred to the intermediate transfer belt 6, the density of the transferred developer band is detected by an optical sensor 10 and the image forming condition when the image is formed by the image forming apparatus is varied in the direction reducing the developer band based on the detected result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
