PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video/audio format reproducing apparatus and a video/audio format reproducing method which can perform switching with a minimum operation and has an excellent user operability so that a stream can be selected by intuition. SOLUTION: When an information recording medium is reproduced which is recorded in a video/audio format containing a plurality of audio streams which are disposed so as to be reproduced at the same time and an audio menu which allows the user to select an audio stream, a state in which an arbitrary audio stream is reproduced is directly shifted to a state in which the audio menu is displayed (S110), and thereafter, when the user selects the audio stream, reproduction is resumed from a reproduction position immediately before the display of the audio menu.
